Best Short Haircuts for 2018

The Moxie on Maple - Best Short Haircuts for 2018

It is that time of year when many, many ladies come in and cut the length of their hair off.  So, we did some legwork and found you a great article on byrdie.com and we have to admit that many of them have us all kinds of excited!  So with no further ado, what so ever, here are the best short haircuts for 2018!

It’s Official: Stylists Say These Will Be the Best Short Haircuts for 2018

While long, flowing strands used to dominate the A-list, it can’t be ignored that more and more of our favorite celebrities have been venturing to the short side and dishing up some serious hair inspo along the way. After all, who needs real length when we can opt for a luxurious set of extensions if we’re craving a longer look? Going shorter might be intimidating if you’re used to a longer mane, but there’s also something undeniably chic about the look, as it immediately highlights striking features and bone structure.

Therefore, it’s really no surprise that the majority of Hollywood is shedding layers in favor of short, chic cuts. Versatility! Edginess! Effortless maintenance! Truly, what could be dreamier? That being said, we know, you know, and stylists know that not all short haircuts are cut from the same cloth. So we were curious: What will the trends be for short haircuts in 2018? And further, which celebrities should we look to for the ultimate hair inspiration? We tapped some of the best stylists in the business to give us their two cents on the matter. And obviously, we took notes and found the stunning photos you can screenshot for your stylist. Keep reading for seven of the best haircuts stylists are loving for 2018.

The Fresh Shag

In the eyes of celebrity hairstylist Cervando Maldonado (who caters to such hair-blessed beauties as Reese Witherspoon, Felicity Jones, and Lily Aldridge), Debbie Harry was most definitely onto something back in 1980. Fast-track nearly 40 years later? Maldonado predicts her iconic androgynous bob will be one of the best ways to work short hair in 2018. Topmost requirements: fringe, polished shag, and chin-grazing length. Nina Dobrev epitomizes the look.

Playful Fringe

According to celebrity hairstylist Justine Marjan, who regularly works with the Kardashian-Jenner family, Ashley Graham, and Olivia Culpo, pairing bangs with bobs will be a noteworthy short haircut trend for the year of 2018. And for this fresh combo, the sleeker the better. So what are the benefits? According to Marjan, this haircut is completely adaptable depending on your style, features, and face shape.

“For every kind of haircut, there will always be different variations depending on your hair type and face shape. If you are opting for fringe, I suggest blow-drying it forward right out of the shower to avoid any cowlicks in the front.” (Ed. note: As someone who just got bangs myself, I can’t emphasize how important this step is.)

The Lush Lob

If you’re contemplating a short haircut for 2018 and have a round face shape like triple threat Dove Cameron (another one of Marjan’s stunning muses), a blunt cut that hits around the jawline (per Zendaya, above) may be unflattering. On the other hand, a longer variation grazing the collarbone sans the fringe can be a beautiful alternative. (Kim Kardashian West has been wearing a similar look.)

For super-blunt cuts, I recommend accentuating the tips of your strands by running a flat iron just over the ends for a polished and refined finish,” Marjan explains.
